Roster Placement Criteria:
When creating rosters, several factors are carefully considered to ensure a positive and productive experience for all players. Our goal is to foster skill development, encourage teamwork, and support the growth of our program while maintaining fairness and compliance with tournament guidelines.
1. Age Bracket Assignments:
Some players are assigned to their age-appropriate brackets based on their birthdate to align with standard tournament regulations.
2. Skill-Based Placement:
Players demonstrating advanced skills during training sessions are given the opportunity to compete at a higher age bracket or skill level. This allows them to be challenged appropriately and to continue developing their abilities.
3. Program Growth Contributions:
To support the growth of our program, some players are asked to play in multiple categories. This helps balance team compositions and provides opportunities for other players to be coached and develop their skills in competitive settings.
4. Leadership Opportunities:
Certain players are placed in leadership roles to guide and inspire others. These roles allow them to model positive behaviors, mentor younger or less experienced players, and strengthen their own leadership abilities.
5. Special Exceptions:
In certain cases, players may receive exceptions to participate in a different age category after discussions Coach Sax has with the tournament’s director. These exceptions are carefully considered to benefit the player, the team, and the overall program. Example: A player currently 14 years old being allowed to play in the U14 age category.
Ultimately, our focus is on creating a positive, learning-focused environment where every player can thrive. These decisions are made with the intent of fostering individual growth, teamwork, and a rewarding experience for everyone involved.
